Navi · in AimiChat for Mac and Windows
The assistant that lives on your desktop.
Navi sits at the edge of your screen and takes care of the small things: your files, your lists, your apps, your day. Say “Hey Aimi” or press Ctrl Shift Space, and ask the way you’d ask a person.
See what you can ask Navi
DemoNavi finds the file on your computer and reads it with your question.
Small things, handled.
Ask in your own words. Navi works out what you mean: a file, a list, an app, your calendar, or just a question for Aimi.
Your computer stays yours.
Navi does as much as it can on your computer, and tells you plainly when something goes further.
Read the privacy policy- Files are found on your computer. Navi uses Windows Search or Spotlight. A file only leaves your computer when you ask about it, attached to your question like any other attachment.
- It watches only what you pick. Clipboard, calendar and the app in front are each a switch, and all of them start off.
- Notes stay local. Lists, reminders and what Navi learns about you are kept on your computer, in plain view and editable in Settings.
- Choose its brain. Navi’s small background jobs can run on AimiChat, on your own model with Ollama, or with your own key. Or leave it off.
As present as you want.
Pick one when you first open the app, and change it any time in Settings → Desktop → Navi.
Assistant
Sits on your screen and offers help with the things you let it see, like a copied error or an upcoming meeting.
RecommendedFloating helper
Stays on your screen but only helps when you click it. It never watches anything.
Quiet
No floating Navi. Open the bar with the shortcut or “Hey Aimi” when you want it.

How do I get Navi?
Navi comes with the AimiChat desktop app for Mac and Windows. Install it, sign in, and Navi says hello the first time you open it. It’s free with any AimiChat account; answers from Aimi use your plan like any chat.
Do I have to say “Hey Aimi”?
No. Press Ctrl Shift Space (⌘ Shift Space on a Mac) to type, or click Navi. To use your voice, turn on Listen for “Hey Aimi” in Settings → Desktop. The wake phrase is detected on your computer.
Does Navi upload my files?
Searching never uploads anything: Navi asks your computer’s own search index. When you ask a question about a file, that one file is attached to your question, the same as attaching it yourself in AimiChat. Programs are never opened from Navi.
Can it read every kind of file?
PDFs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV, text, Markdown and images up to 15 MB. For anything else, such as a video or a Keynote file, Navi tells you why it can’t read it and offers to open it instead. Scanned PDFs with no text in them are flagged so you get an honest answer.
What can it control on my computer?
Opening and switching to installed apps, play, pause and skip, volume and mute, and locking the screen. Anything bigger, like “open YouTube and play lo-fi”, goes to Computer Use, where risky steps wait for your approval.
Does it work offline?
Lists, reminders, file search and app control work on your computer. Answers to questions come from Aimi, so they need a connection. With your own model in Ollama, Navi’s background jobs can run fully on your computer too.
Can I turn it off?
Yes. Choose Quiet in Settings → Desktop → Navi, or right-click Navi or the tray icon. Every source it watches is its own switch, and you can delete anything it has noted.
