Is the desktop app free?

Yes, it’s free to download. You sign in with your existing AimiChat account and your plan carries over.

Which computers does it run on?

Windows 7 or later, 64-bit or 32-bit, and Macs on macOS 10.13 or later. Windows 10 and 11 use the standard installer (32-bit version here). Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 and Macs older than macOS 13 get a version made for older computers, which this page offers automatically. Windows 7 needs PowerShell 3 or later (a free Microsoft update) for file search and Computer Use. On other computers, use AimiChat in the browser.

“AimiChat can’t be opened” or “is damaged” on Mac

That message means macOS Gatekeeper is blocking an app it hasn’t verified yet — the download is fine. Fix it in one of these ways:

  1. Right-click (or Control-click) AimiChat in Applications, choose Open, then Open again.
  2. Or open Terminal and run:
    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/AimiChat.app
    then launch AimiChat normally.

Windows says “Windows protected your PC”

Choose More info, then Run anyway. The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows this warning.

How do updates work?

New versions download in the background and install the next time you restart AimiChat. You can also choose Check for Updates… in the AimiChat menu. See the changelog.

Is Computer Use safe to leave running?

Tasks you start or schedule still use the same approval controls. Risky steps wait for your approval; the live view lets you pause or stop, and Esc stops desktop control. On Mac, controlling other apps needs Screen Recording and Accessibility permission; Aimi Browser tasks need neither. Computer Use is available on Ultra and Genius plans and uses credits.

How do I enable “Hey Aimi”?

Open Settings → Desktop, turn on Listen for “Hey Aimi”, and allow microphone access. Wake phrase detection runs locally on your computer. Voice transcription uses an online service. AimiChat needs to be running, including in the tray; you can also enable launch at login in the installed app.

Will scheduled tasks run with the app closed?

AimiChat must be open or running in the tray, and your computer must be awake. Manage routines in Settings → Desktop → Scheduled tasks. Scheduling uses Computer Use and keeps its plan, credit and approval requirements.

Are my chats the same as on the web?

Yes. It’s the same account, and your chats sync both ways.
